About Bonaire
Bonaire is a laid-back Dutch Caribbean island famous for crystal-clear water, vibrant coral reefs, and some of the easiest shore diving and snorkeling in the world. Freedivers love its calm conditions, warm water, and deep drop-offs just minutes from shore. Whether you're chasing depth or up for land adventures, Bonaire is an easy island to fall in love with.
About Kralendijk
Kralendijk, Bonaire's colorful waterfront capital, is small but full of excellent restaurants and ocean views. Wander the pastel-colored streets, browse local boutiques or take a sunset stroll along the promenade.
About Your Team
This trip is led by Anastasia Devana - freediving coach, instructor and national record holder and Becky Zak - Team GB World Championship diver, coach and instructor. Both bring deep expertise, inclusive learning and laughter!
We’re also partnering with Blue Classroom Freediving, Bonaire’s premier freediving school. Their top-tier facilities and platform will be our training home, and instructor/owner Hugo Lampe will host us for the infamous Hilma Hooker wreck dive!
FAQs
-
No, but you should be a certified freediver. This trip isn’t as much about target dives as it is about community and experiences, and any depth is welcome! The platform is set at 35m with swimmable moorings of up to 60m just a few feet away.
-
The simplest way is to take a direct flight from Miami (MIA) to Kralendijk (BON). But there are also connecting flights that you can pick from. We can help suggest routes and connect you with others arriving around the same time. The airport is just 5-10 minutes from our hotel!
-
Yes - airport transfers are included. If you plan to arrive earlier or leave later than the retreat, we can arrange taxis for a small additional fee.
-
No, a car is not necessary. We will rent pickup trucks for all excursions and group meals. Bonaire is very easy to get around, and your hosts will drive the trucks.
-
Bonaire is very flat with paved streets, so no hiking shoes needed!
-
All activities are included in the package but are totally optional. You can choose to relax instead, snorkel near the hotel with a buddy, browse the gift shops with a gelato, or simply do nothing at all!
-
You’ll need to bring all your own freediving gear: wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, weights, lanyard, etc. We’ll send a complete packing list after registration.
-
Absolutely. Just let us know - we’re happy to connect you with local contacts for accommodation extensions or additional adventures.
-
Bonaire has a large array of restaurants despite its small size, so we will mostly be taking advantage of the local culinary scene. Most meals are casual, but our last night will be a lil’ fancier! There are also supermarkets we can visit to stock up on snacks for your hotel room. Please note that the meals are not included in the trip price.
-
Currently not, but if it’s very important to you, please let us know, and we can find someone on the island to book a shoot. The water is so clear that most personal underwater camera shots look incredible though! And your hosts will be capturing lots of action camera footage!
-
Yes. All participants are required to carry dive accident insurance (such as DAN or an equivalent provider) for the duration of the trip. It’s affordable and easy to sign up - we’ll send you a link after registration if you don’t have it yet.
We also highly recommend purchasing travel insurance, as the trip cost becomes non-refundable one month before the trip start date. Travel insurance can help protect you in case of unexpected changes, delays, or emergencies.
-
The $500 deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel more than a month before the trip, the deposit can be applied as a credit to future trips or training. The remainder is due one month before the trip, and cancellations after that are non-refundable unless we can fill your spot. We recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers unexpected changes.
